VinFast's journey in India is officially under way, and it is not on a whispering note; rather, it makes a serious statement of intent
IT IS OFFICIAL. VINFAST HAS BEGUN ITS Indian journey with the launch of the VF 6 and the VF 7 electric sport utility vehicles (SUV) after a long buildup period that started at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025.
As is the case with all new brands making headway on new turf, the right steps need to be taken, and VinFast, instead of starting on whispers, has made a loud statement with the steps it has taken to try and have a proper crack at the electric vehicle (EV) space in India.
VinFast already has a world-class factory in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, where the VF 6 and VF 7 will be assembled, and proper steps have been taken to ensure things are efficient. For starters, the company has accelerated local employment at the plant with a structured onboarding programme wherein selected candidates are trained to meet global automotive standards under the guidance of Vietnamese subject-matter experts and experienced Indian professionals. The workforce strategy follows a hybrid model of 80:20, with 80 per cent of the plant workforce comprising freshers or trainees from local communities and the remaining 20 per cent consisting of experienced Indian and expatriate professionals from leading original equipment manufacturers (OEM).
