Odyssey of belonging

Om Shukla set out on a long and expansive journey through Kerala and Tamil Nadu to explore the monsoon trails of these beautiful lands with Honda cars as part of the 13th edition of Drive to Discover As automobile journalists, our jobs revolve primarily around wheels and the vehicles that run on them, so one of the biggest aspects is driving.

And this driving can involve fulfilling various tasks but you know the ones that I like most? It's the ones in which we go to new places, explore unexplored land, or, in other words, we discover. So when I was told that I would be attending the Honda Drive to Discover 13, my excitement and zeal to drive were at their highest levels. The theme of this season's Drive to Discover was the monsoon trail, driving through beautiful areas of Kerala and Tamil Nadu, with the entire portfolio of Honda ready to be driven, including the Amaze, City, Elevate and the City e:HEV. So I flew, landing in Kochi, an important city in God's own land. And as I stepped out of the human intervention in the form of the air-conditioned airport, I was greeted warmly by the pleasant weather of the region, with soul-replenishing rain and mind-relaxing winds welcoming me. As I first glanced at the vehicles that were to be my partners in the journey, something hit me, it was good old nostalgia, and a feeling of being at home. Why? It was due to a mere combination of letters and numbers on the license plates, the plates that started with UP16. Folks from around Delhi would know that this start to the number means the car belongs to Noida, or, if you go by the official records, Gautam Buddha Nagar.
