We drive final version of legendary hot hatch

THE Civic Type R is nearing the end of the road, but after almost three decades, Honda wasn't going to let its icon bow out with a whimper.

So, making its public debut at the recent Goodwood Festival of Speed was an ultra-exclusive special, the Civic Type R Ultimate Edition.

We drove the new car up the Goodwood hillclimb to get our first taste of the hot hatch's final iteration. And even though it was surrounded by supercars, the Ultimate Edition commanded attention right from the off. That's thanks in part to the Championship White paint contrasted by a black roof, various carbon-fibre parts inside and out, and some bespoke bright red graphics.
