Concept C heralds brave new world for Audi

Electric sports car previews new model set to arrive in 2027, as brand gets a makeover under fresh leadership team

MEET the car that is set to lead Audi into a new era. The Concepts C marks a pivotal moment for the brand, headed by a fresh leadership team with a philosophy that will dramatically change the way its cars will look and feel.

It bears no relation to any current Audi, and digs through the firm's illustrious history to inform and inspire the overall design. There are clear references to cars such as the Auto Union Type C racer from the thirties, as well as more modern creations like the Audi TT and original R8.

The Concept C’s historically relevant design features include the rectangular grille and narrow slats on the rear bodywork, but others - such as the slim lighting — point towards a much more contemporary look and feel. The roof is another, because it’s integrated into the design to look equally striking up or down.

As with the exterior, there’s a minimalist look inside, with creases and lines pared back and overlaid with materials such as warm grey fabric and leather, and aluminium.
