The Enchanting Kingdom of Animals The Time Has Come
Sep-Oct 2025
|dogs & more
As a reader of this column you know that I lost both my dogs within 18 months of each other. So since the last 20 months I have lived by myself, dogless, and in a vacuum of grief, something which never really leaves you. It's strange really, not to be able to express the pain to anyone for you don't want to make those around you uncomfortable. They have moved on... however close to you they may be, they won't understand the feeling. Inshy and Tasha, barring for one or two, or just very few, are a forgotten lot.
But that's not a complaint. I know how life works.
What I want to say now, is, I am finally ready to bring new puppy love back into my life. Yes, I want a dog again. I want to hear the pitter patter of its paws on my floor at home. I want to feed it, spoil it. I want it to be around me, sit next to me on the sofa, sleep next to me in bed, curl up at my feet, or next to my head, wherever it chooses to be. I want that unconditional love.
But it has to be a Lhasa Apso and a baby girl. Any colour. I am afraid I am addicted to Lhasas. That and also the fact that I have studied this breed so well and understand them so well. After all, I have an experience of 20 years of living with Lhasas.
So if any of you out there know of a new born Lhasa puppy or even a pregnant Lhasa mummy, pllllllease just contact me. I will be beholden to you.
Now that that is out, let me address a thought that may have passed through some of your minds. You may have questioned, "Why does she not adopt one, instead of searching for a Lhasa...?"
