There are no ghosts left in her closet
-
In her new memoir Inside Out, Demi Moore drops bombshell after bombshell. From divorces, infidelity and substance abuse to the painful childhood trauma that preceded it all, the beautiful and talented but tortured mother-of-three, 56, confesses all about the drama that’s plagued her life.
“There’s nothing I have to protect,” says Demi, though she also admits laying it all out there makes her feel “very vulnerable”. Indeed, the actress has never been this exposed. Her gut-wrenching tell-all – for which sources say she received $7.8 million to write – doesn’t sugar-coat anything.
In the memoir, which goes on sale this week, Demi writes that her father Danny Guynes – who she learned at the age of 13 wasn’t even her biological dad – often asked her to help him prevent her troubled mother Ginny from succeeding with one of her many suicide attempts.
Demi recalls, “I remember using my fingers, the small fingers of a child, to dig the pills my mother had tried to swallow out of her mouth while my father held it open and told me what to do. Something very deep inside me shifted then, and it never shifted back. My childhood was over.”
Demi also reveals that she was the victim of a horrific rape at the age of 15 and afterward she spiralled out of control. A year later, she moved out of her mum’s house and moved in with a guitar player and two years after that – aged just 18 – she married another rocker, singer Freddy Moore.
Demi confesses she ruined their five-year marriage by cheating on her husband and at the same time she started boozing, taking cocaine and worrying constantly about her weight and how any fluctuations would be viewed by the image-conscious movie business.
