'OUR LEGO WEDDING WAS FULL OF FIRSTS!'

Paul and Trent's groundbreaking nuptials weren't the only unique part of their big day

For Lego Masters stars Paul and Trent, their 2013 wedding in New Zealand was an emotional day in many ways.

"We were the first Australian gay couple to get married legally," Paul, 50, proudly tells Woman's Day of the ceremony that made headlines across the country.

"New Zealand welcomed us with open arms. It was such a special day, particularly because at the time our own country was going through that horrendous same-sex marriage plebiscite.

"To be able to stand up in front of our family and friends and say, 'I choose him it was just incredible. We thought we'd never be able to get married," he adds.

The couple were given Lego sets as wedding gifts.
