‘Diana Would Feel Sorry For Meghan

As the Duchess of Sussex adjusts to life in Britain’s first family, royal biographer Lady Colin Campbell explains how Diana would feel

‘Diana Would Feel Sorry For Meghan

The Duchess of Sussex’s time as a royal certainly hasn’t been easy. Not only has the former Suits actress been accused of causing a rift between husband Prince Harry, his brother William and wife Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, palace insiders are also reported to have branded her ‘Duchess difficult’ after her demands became too much for royal aides.

But with her forthright views and modern outlook, it seems the one person who could relate to Meghan, 38, is her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.

Diana, who was married to Prince Charles for 15 years before their 1996 divorce and her tragic death a year later, wasn’t afraid to ruffle a few feathers during her time in ‘the firm’, with royal biographer Lady Colin Campbell telling Woman, ‘I think that if Diana were alive, she would at times identify with Meghan’s maverick quality and have sympathy for her.’

OUTSIDERS?

Prince Harry has previously insisted his mum and Meghan would have been ‘as thick as thieves’. But it isn’t just their working backgrounds, with Meghan opting for television work while Diana worked as a kindergarten teacher, which makes them the perfect match. ‘Meghan is definitely an outsider, but Diana felt like an outsider,’ Lady C continued. ‘Both Meghan and Diana have one trait in common – they are quite determined to do things their way.
