What is tinnitus

It’s a condition that causes you to hear sounds in your ears that don’t come from an outside source. While some people describe it as a ringing in their ears, these phantom noises can also sound like:

Buzzing

Roaring

Clicking

Hissing It can vary in pitch from a low roar to a high squeal and can be faint or loud, occasional or constant. Some people find it mildly irritating, while for others, it can be debilitating. Tinnitus can affect your ability to concentrate and may be more noticeable at night or when it is quiet. It may also be more severe when you are tired and stressed. Tinnitus is quite common – around 20% of people suffer from it to some extent.

What causes tinnitus?
