From The Real Marigold Hotel to Big American Adventure, Miriam Margolyes’ favourite souvenir is always a good old life lesson! And with lots of travel experience under her belt, Miriam definitely has a suitcase or two fulll of worldly wisdom to share… Nothing irks the award winning actress more than a lack of humanity or adull sense of community, qualities she describes as “just moral imperatives”. After years of exploring foreign lands – including remote parts of India, China and Japan –the way we treat our elderly strikes Miriam as “uncaring” as she continues to discover much kindness in countries less affluent than our own.

The Harry Potter star joined Age International on a trip to Vietnam, where she embraced village life and paid particularly close attention to how they treat their elders.

“Age International is a charity I wanted to support because I’m old,” laughs Miriam, incredibly full of life and vigour at the age of 77. “They suggested I see what’s going on in Vietnam and, of course, I was absolutely thrilled!”
