I Knew He Was Mr Right!

Twenty-five years of marriage is an impressive milestone – but Lorraine Kelly tells us that she knew she had met her Mr Right the moment she saw him.

“I was a correspondent on TV-am and he was the cameraman… and I jumped on him like a Ninja!” She laughs. “I knew he was the man for me straight away. We’ve been together 30 years and 25 married. He’s a saint for putting up with me for all that time!”

Thoughts of her wedding to Steve Smith in 1992 frequently came back to her as she witnessed the smiling faces and affectionate exchanges between the couples when filming her Saturday night entertainment show, Wedding Day Winners.

The programme, which she co-hosts with comedian Rob Beckett, is back on TV after a break since the screening of the first three shows in January.

“I was reminded of the joy of getting married and the ceremony,” she says. “It’s a very exciting time. Everyone loves a wedding. My wedding to Steve was a wee one, very traditional. All I wanted was men in kilts and pipers.
