The Kayano 28 is the latest in the highly successful running shoes in the Gel-Kayano range from Asics. This is the 28th iteration in this range, which was first introduced in 1993. Toshikazu Kayano was the man behind this brand, which aims to provide a cutting-edge product for the long-distance runner. The Gel-Kayano range is based on the Japanese philosophy of kaizen (gradual continuous improvement), and this brand has done justice to it.

The most striking feature about Kayano 28 is that it has been able to strike a balance between cushioning and stability. Usually, shoes that provide a high degree of cushioning have to compromise on stability. With the Kayano 28 Asics continues to provide exceptionally good gel technology-based cushioning, but they have been able to add strong stability without making the shoes bulky or unwieldy. The dynamic Duomax along with a redesigned heel fit, provides snug fit along with support for the heel, and this combines well with the midsole foam for responsiveness.

The shoe has stretchable, breathing mesh design on the upper of the shoe, which can take quite a bit of punishment from the toes, the high-pressure point for all endurance runners. Do remember to pick a pair which is at least half size higher than your leather shoe size, giving your feet extra space to stretch during long runs and to reduce the pressure on the front upper mesh.
