What it takes to build a human-centric Metaverse
March 2022
|PCQuest
It will take time to unlock the full potential and to experience all features of the Metaverse. The hardware to get an immersive experience within Metaverse may not be affordable to all people at this juncture and we certainly can't ignore the possible negative implications
We as human beings have a few dreams which we can't realize due to so many constraints - could be financial, skills, stamina, IQ and others! For example, I dream of conversing with Karna and Lord Srikrishna, Bheeshma, and Suyodhan in Hastinapur in the Raj Darbar. I could meet them and have a conversation to stop the Mahabharat War. Yes, it is possible for you just by sitting at home.
I want to meet my close friend who is 8,000 miles away but not able to. So, imagine that within a few seconds, I will be at my friend's home in the USA, and we both have a personalized conversation. Once done, I will come back to my home in India. All I could do without even going out just from home.
Ghantasala, SP Balasubramanyam, and Kishorekumar's music program is happening, and I want to attend that concert, enjoy the show in a big crowd just sitting at home.
My daughter is struggling to understand the planet Mars. So, my daughter and I go to Mars and then explore and experience the geography of Mars, all just by sitting at home. We do not need to spend millions of dollars to go to Mars using Elon Musk's Space Shuttle.
All this looks like fiction and probably reminds us of old mythology films. But do not worry; Metaverse is here to give that experience.
Web 3.0, Hardware, variety of Metaverse and its affordability
In Web 1.0, people started viewing static web pages over the internet in which the provider-maintained content. In the era of Web 2.0, people started generating content themselves using social media; there is a lot of interaction over webpages and software applications and have been communicating and collaborating using audio/video conference, telepresence, accessing videos and seeing movies.
