Get Ready For A Shift In Power, Says Colly

IT TOOK them five matches to finally break their duck but now North coach Paul Collingwood reckons his squad have the slight advantage going into today’s series decider with the South in Barbados.

Collingwood saw his North side level the series at 1-1 with a 46-run victory over their compatriots on Wednesday, finally getting a game on the board after last year’s 3-0 whitewash.

They held their nerve in the field despite a second consecutive century from South opener Nick Gubbins with Lancashire leg-spinner Matt Parkinson claiming three vital wickets.

Now, former England all-rounder Collingwood says the momentum is with his side as they look to exact sweet revenge in the now customary Spring curtain-raiser.

“I’m delighted for the boys,” Collingwood said. “They’ve put a lot of hard work and effort into the series so far so to get their first win for the North side in the last two years is great.

“Gubbins has been in great form in this series so far and it took something special to get him out.
