Usain Bolt: The Fastest Man Alive

The 15th World Championships in Athletics were recently held in Beijing, China. The event was the largest sporting event to take place at the Beijing National stadium (“Bird’s Nest”) since the 2008 Summer Olympics. Despite the presence of world renowned athletes, all eyes were on Usain Bolt, the fastest man alive. It was largely due to 100 metres race, which is considered above all other events in the track and field world championship. The Jamaican star shred off all the worries as he won the men’s 100 metres at the 2015 world track and field championships, crossing just one-hundredth of a second in front of Justin Gatlin. this was not, for the record, a morality play. This was, simply, an excellent race. And now we all are waiting for a year-long build-up to the men’s 100 metres at the RIO 2016 Olympics. The race at Beijing drew worldwide attention. Gatlin’s agent Renaldo Nehemiah was spot on in his analyzing of the race. “It’s what our sport sorely needs. A sport needs a rivalry. A photo finish like that is great for the sport. It elevates Bolt even more,” Nehemiah said, adding with emphasis, “It elevates Gatlin even more.” Even the International Olympic Committee president, Thomas Bach, weighed in, saying after the race, “Congratulation to Usain Bolt for a historic victory. So great to see him winning in the Bird’s Nest stadium again.” The two champion athletes ran together down the track until Gatlin lost his form just few metres away from the end, which handed the race to his competitor and one of the most renowned racer of all time.
