While there is now a confirmed finality about the non-participation of Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh for the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2020, questions are being asked of the CSK captain and his role in stepping up his own game to overcome these early challenges.

At the best and the worst of times, it is always difficult to question the usually unflappable Mahendra Singh Dhoni. However, over the past two years, he has made it a bit of an unsavoury habit courting the speculation for the wrong reasons. Now it appears the concerns at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 have reared their ugly head at the IPL 2020 in the UAE with Dhoni at the heart of the storm.

Despite the captain’s assurance that there is plenty of time in the tournament to effect a turnaround in fortunes, their early performances and decisions have set the cat amongst the pigeons even for the loyal CSK fans.
