After reaching the playoffs under Far du Plessis in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season, Royal Challengers Bangalore will look to take things a step further. RCB are in the hunt for a maiden IPL crown, and the 2023 edition could offer another roller coaster of a ride for the fans. RCB look settled as a side with the shape and familiarity of last season. One can easily pick the best possible playing XI, which has the familiarities of 2022. RCB need to take their chances and look to manifest a habit of winning with the players available as readymade picks. In the IPL 2023 auction, England’s Will Jacks was roped in for 3.2 crore to add more depth in batting. Reece Topley was also purchased to act as cover for Josh Hazlewood. Both Jacks and Topley have desired experience in the 20-over format. RCB have a long list of uncapped players on the bench. Do they boast the desired quality? One question that lingers on. RCB’s foreign players look solid, and the settled Indian players in that playing XI boast character, but the bench strength is a bit of a worry. It will be crucial for the Challengers to have the main players fit and available if they are to make the playoffs once again. Virat Kohli and Fat du Plessis remain the ideal attractions in batting. Wanindu Hasaranga and Harshal Patel are the able names in the bowling department. Ahead of the IPL 2023 season, we analyse the squad of RCB.
