Neil Lennon urges Celts to keep up their momentum

AS Celtic gear up for another double header of away games this week, Neil Lennon will be looking for his team to maintain the high level of performances that they have shown on the road recently and, with players on form and others returning, the Hoops look like they’re going from strength to strength.

Celtic closed off the first month of the new decade with four wins from four before continuing that run with a thrilling 4-1 win away at Hamilton on Sunday to move seven points clear at the top of the Premiership.

Of the champions’ first seven games of 2020, only one is scheduled at home - that was a 3-0 win over Ross County on January 25. The lack of home advantage during the current run of games only serves to highlight the form Celtic are in at the moment.

For Neil Lennon, the results are testament to the hard work his team have been putting in and he will now be looking to his squad to maintain that from game to game.

“We’re delighted with the position we find ourselves in so far,” he said. “In the second half of the season we’ve been absolutely fantastic. It was another great win at the weekend and we just hope we can keep that momentum going now.

“We did some intense training in Dubai. I think the guys needed the break, but the physical work was very beneficial and you can see that starting to come to fruition now. The motivation is good, the boys are back at it and I’m very pleased with the level of performances that I’m seeing.”

Scott Brown and Callum McGregor, once again, showed how crucial to the team they are during the victory over the Accies at the weekend. The midfield duo dominated in the centre of the pitch and their play was beautifully accompanied by James Forrest on the wing.

Neil Lennon said their consistency is invaluable to the team and is deserving of the highest praise.
