Ting Tong Raves About Dynamite Baits’ Latest Offering.

- Iain Macmillan

A Game Changer

I’ll be the first to admit I’m no bait buff, but I do trust the people who are. So when I got my hands on some of the new CompleX-T from Dynamite it instantly grabbed not only my smell and taste buds, but my undivided attention to change from my beloved and proven Monster Tiger Nut.

One of the first things I noticed about the bait was its dark colour, yet it became very washed out in no time at all – a massive plus for the cagey and wary pressured fish which I normally target. The second was the distinctive ‘carpy smell’. I’ve been carp fishing for over 30 years now, and sometimes I smell a bait and simply know it’s the one – I just know it will destroy waters on a large scale and won’t blow due to overuse like some baits do. But how would it perform against baits in which I had total confidence and had used with great success for years?

The first test was a prebaiting campaign on a new syndicate I’d joined, and the reason for this was I knew no other angler in the syndicate would have access to the CompleX-T, so surely it would be a big edge for me. I also knew this water had been dominated by sweet-based baits for a few years, so how would I fare up against tried and proven baits? A mate and I put in a fair bit and we did very well straight from the off. I bagged fish of 40¼lb and 52¼lb, and my mate had a string of big thirties, all within a couple of weeks of the season commencing.

West Counties Report

Around the venues If I told you in Staffordshire there is a fishery with pools within which the average carp is currently over 30lb, you’d be interested, wouldn’t you? What if I told you it’s not a syndicate or a club venue, but is available for all to fish on a day-ticket basis? Still interested? Then check out Baden hall Fishery, where the Quarry is starting to wake up and big fish are on the move.

Mask The Smell

His latest session on Bluebell Kingfisher Lake, Northamptonshire, saw Terry Fitzgerald make it five forties in five trips with this 43¼lb common (below). Richworth S-core boilies produced the goods for Terry, who fished on a clear area where he baited with five kilos of low-oil pellets and free offerings. The hookbait was offered on a rig including an Avid Carp Drop-OffInline lead coated with clay to “mask any smell from human fingers”.
