Sagan 'Is Beatable' In Green Jersey Contest

But Erik Zabel’s record six victories are in touching distance for the Slovak

After playing a key role in Michael Matthews’s successful assault in last year’s green jersey classification, Luke Roberts, directeur sportif at Team Sunweb, believes it’s not a foregone conclusion that Peter Sagan will reclaim the jersey. Sagan grabbed the jersey after just two stages and has shown little signs of weakness in the sprints of the opening weekend.

“He is beatable,” said Roberts. “Last year we calculated what Michael would need to collect on every stage in bonus sprints and finish points, with only an exceptional ride from someone else being able to take the green jersey. In the end he was one point off what we calculated.”
