Monsters may be far more civilised than we give them credit for. Take the one you control in A Monster's Expedition, for instance, a sort of large black egg sporting limbs and a rucksack. They merely want to tour a museum of human history to better understand how we once lived. What could be more cultured and innocent than that?
However, you won't get far without using your monstrous upper-body strength. Monster museums are outdoors, with exhibits arranged on tiny islands, and since you can't swim that's far from ideal. The solution: knock down trees and roll the resultant logs into the water to create bridges or rafts. So it's a good job that our monster can shove the trunks clean off their bases and flip or roll them without breaking a sweat.
