Wedding Photography with GoPro
April 2020
|Smart Photography
Fixing a ‘specialist’ tag on a device can sometimes hamper its proper utilisation, and GoPro is one such under-utilised device, thanks to the ‘action camera’ label that goes with it. However, there are a bunch of photographers who use GoPro cameras for professional photography and capture amazing perspectives. Smart Photography interacted with Magic Weavers to learn more about their work with GoPro devices. Here are some details they shared with us.
-
Migrating to GoProWe started using the GoPro in weddings right from Hero 3 way back in 2012. It was mostly used in drones, underwater work during pool parties and couple shoots during weddings. There was no other camera that could do these things for our type of work. We kept on upgrading the system every time GoPro released newer cameras but the kind of work we did with that was similar. It was used mainly as an action camera in weddings. But a couple of years back, when the GoPros became much more advanced and the image quality improved a lot, we realised that we could use the cameras to create dramatic shots. With the release of 360 degree GoPro Fusion/MAX and the Hero 8, we can now capture perspectives which are unique and eye-catching for our clients. The system is very robust and easy to use and the size of it makes its a perfect camera for creating unique shots.

Are you ready to pay the price for an incredibly thin iPhone?
I'm not going to lie; I'm a Pro Max kinda guy. Ever since Apple released the 11 Pro Max, I've naturally gravitated towards the biggest, mostest iPhone. The iPhone Air then is the kind of phone I'd expectedly veer away from, the antithesis of the Pro Max, a phone that prioritized slimness and hand-feel over camera versatility and battery life. But, three weeks of testing the Air has me reconsidering my priorities, appreciating the in-the-hand benefits I'd long forgotten.
