The Brazilian backcountry, or how it's said in Portuguese, Sertão is the largest of the four sub-regions in the country's northeast regions, occupying a significant part of the territory of eight states.

It is a vast region secreted by public authorities and unknown by the majority of the Brazilian population and other foreign groups that visit or have visited Brazil due to its Adridness and long drainage periods. I visited this community for three months by an incursion from piauí, through the states of Bahia, Pernambuco, Paraiba, Rio Grande do Norte, and ceará. It made me see through the souls of the local population. Their beliefs held faith and gratitude for the little things, for the necessary only, and dignity in the face of life and human relations. This is in addition to the joy expressed by simplicity. A daily confronted by the complex reality of existence.
