EYEING INTO THE MACRO WORLD

Photographer Raj Bharathi captures beautiful macro photos and this interview shares his story. Raj Bharathi is an entrepreneur who recently relocated to Singapore following the purchase of his firm. He took a break from his routine and began exploring nature. He became interested in macro photography and creatures at that time. He is now a dedicated naturalist who explores the hidden realm of nature to bring the animals to light. Raj is on a mission to inspire others to enjoy, respect, and learn more about animals, as well as to encourage biodiversity protection. He enjoys narrating stories using his photography. His work has appeared in publications such as the Nature Society of Singapore, CNA, and the Singapore Tourism Board.

How and when did you begin photographing?

Photography was something I grew up with. My father started photography as a hobby when he was in the Indian Navy and turned into a professional photographer. He inspired me, taught me how to hold a camera, how to compose a shot and how to work with lighting and various settings at a very young age. I have enjoyed learning to shoot on film, process black & white images in a dark room and the art of studio shoot. I used to tag along with my father to many events too. Friends say that photography is in my genes.

Though I hadn't practiced the craft religiously I started as a casual travel photographer during my working years as a technology consultant in the US. There were many at times when I wanted to explore photography in depth, but work kept me busy.

The Rise of Street Couture Photography

Street couture photography has taken over fashion culture in a way few trends have before. It blends high fashion with real world grit, turning sidewalks into runways and everyday people into style subjects. This shift did not happen overnight. It grew from a mix of social media influence, shifting brand priorities, and a global appetite for authenticity. What used to be a niche style is now a major force shaping how fashion is captured, consumed, and imagined.
