Nothing can be more frustrating than wondering whether you’re getting enough breastmilk. Any sob, hiccup, burp, or whimper from your baby can appear to be a sign that he isn’t getting enough milk. The first thing, mums, is to relax and trust your body. If the baby seems content, his body weight is increasing over time, is wetting enough diapers and sleeping well, then you are most likely doing a great job.

Even though a low milk supply is unlikely, your baby may still struggle to get enough milk during the first few weeks for various other reasons. If you’re trying to fix a breastfeeding schedule rather than feeding on demand, the baby may not be nursing consistently, or for long enough. He may be having trouble while latching on, or may have a condition that makes it difficult for him to take in the milk. Always consult a healthcare professional if you suspect low supply, or before taking any steps following the same. As a lactation consultant, I often detect low milk supply and have a few surefire tricks and tips up my sleeve for mums. Here are some of them:
