Kyle finally fit to burst after two years of hell

Injury Time Went On Forever

Kyle McAllister could have been forgiven for cursing the current shutdown after losing almost two-and-a-half years due to injury.

Instead, the St Mirren midfielder insists it has been a blessing in disguise.

By the time the Premiership kicks off on August 1 it will be almost five months without football for players and punters alike.

But McAllister sees a silver lining to the coronavirus cloud that has been hanging over the game since March.

The Buddies ace finally feels he’s at the peak of fitness after a spell from hell.

He came through the club’s academy and earned a move to Championship contenders Derby County in January 2017.

However, what should have been a dream move turned out to be a nightmare for the Scotland Under-21 star as he then went two years without kicking a ball in anger.

He said: “That was tough. I had a problem with my groin, which came out of nowhere as soon as I joined Derby.

“It meant that the only people I saw for the first three or four months there were physios.

“Craig Bryson, who’s now at Aberdeen, was brilliant with me from day one, helping a young Scottish player to settle in.

“The only good thing was I wasn’t alone. Derby have so many players there were usually 10 of us in the treatment room at the same time.
