THEY may seem unlikely friends but fashion icon Anna Wintour and actor Bill are hardly strangers in the Nighy.

He arrived for their intimate meal in Rome on Thursday brandishing stems of red roses.

Bill and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna became close last year after she split from her long-term partner, telecoms tycoon Shelby Bryan.

The famous pair, both 71, have often been spotted together at glamorous settings including restaurants and theatres in London, Paris and New York – where she is based – setting tongues wagging rumours about their relationship.
