NICOLA Sturgeon led Scottish tributes to David Amess after the Southend MP was stabbed to death.
The First Minister said politicians from across all parties would be "united in sadness and shock".
All Scottish parties have suspended campaigning this weekend as a mark of respect.
The SNP leader tweeted: "This is awful, beyond words.
"My thoughts and deepest condolences are with David's family, friends and colleagues.
May he rest in peace." She added: "Elected representatives from across the political spectrum will be united in sadness and shock today.
