Courtney aiming to give Irish a shiner
The Rugby Paper|February 23, 2020
COURTNEY Lawes shrugged off a nasty training ground eye injury and insisted it will not stop him going blow for blow with the Irish at Twickenham today.

The Northampton lock prepared for another ultraphysical forward battle with the men in green looking like he had been on the receiving end of one of Deontay Wilder’s mighty left hooks!

But Lawes, whose right eye needed stitches after being left badly bruised and swollen and almost closed, insists his focus has not been blurred by the collision with a team-mate in the build up to the Six Nations clash.

Lawes, 31 today, was asked if he had been involved in a training ground fight. The Hackneyborn flanker insisted: “No, it’s just a boo boo! Nothing too serious. It is all fine...just a clash, my head on something. Not sure on what.

“It happened on Thursday. I am hoping it will go down a bit by tomorrow. I can see ok so will be fine to play.”

PGP deal is nothing but a waste of time

I CAN’T help thinking that the new Professional Game Partnership (PGP) is nothing but a waste of time as I can’t see how it is going to make any difference to how the game operates or how it will actually help clubs keep players and reduce the financial strain they are under.
