Fresh start creates new hope
IT’S all change for Tom Eastman at Colchester this season – a new boss, a new centre-back partner… and, hopefully, promotion to League One.
Since relegation from the third tier in 2016, Colchester have become League Two’s nearly men, twice finishing one place outside the play-offs before losing to Exeter after extra-time in the semifinals last term.
That heartbreaking defeat led to John McGreal leaving the JobServe Community Stadium after four years in charge, with his assistant Steve Ball promoted to the top job.
And 28-year-old defender Eastman says things already feel different under Ball and his No.2 Hayden Mullins, who is fresh from a stint as interim Watford manager.
