We’re expected to give more, do more, and produce more, but also do it cheaper, faster, and better. This applies at every level in life. School is a massive weight on a student’s shoulders, for example. As someone who is currently tackling school online, but only taking two classes at a time, I can’t even imagine managing a full course load. Jobs seem to pay less now too, but higher output is expected almost across the board. With social media, we’re constantly required to be available, even by friends and family. Finding time to escape seems impossible, and even if you could, where would you go?

One thing I’ve learned whilst gallivanting around the globe the last few years is that you must make time for yourself. Whether it’s something small like taking a half hour to read a good book before bed, or something much grander like taking a trip alone; alone time is crucial to maintaining any sort of balance in our ultra cluttered and preoccupied brains.
