My first instrument was the piano, and I started playing bass at the age of 13, after my passion for rock and metal music was born at age 10— but with hindsight, I think the real turning point was reached when I was a little child. My parents raised me on jazz, blues, and some groove music, so I heard a lot of Alain Caron, Jaco Pastorius, and Jamiroquai at home. Something in this music always sounded very special to me—it was in the frequencies: it was bass.
