The Dimension Data climber reveals a curious hidden talent and a penchant for long distances

Lachlan Morton
After two seasons outside the WorldTour, Lachlan Morton has returned with Dimension Data, and has found success, with a top-10 finish at the Tour of California. Here, he tells us why Bernie Eisel is a team-mate in a million, and reflects on what he is good, and not so good at.

What’s your favourite race?

It’s probably Il Lombardia. That was the first Classic I ever did and it’s a race that has got a bit of everything. There’s no lucky winner there so anyone who wins is a really good bike rider.

What’s the best thing about riding a bike for a living?

For me it’s what I want to do every day anyway and so to be able to call that work is pretty awesome. And I guess you have all the freedom to make your own hours. Plus you get to go all around the world.
