First, the basics. Crapes is your old school dice game played with a pair of dice. Players can place their bets on the outcome. They can wager money against a bank or each other as well. Around every player gets a chance to be the shooter as long as they have an active pass. The shooter rolls the dice and decides the fate for the entire table. You are either the shooter or placing bets on the shooter’s roll.
This interesting name also has some interesting backstory behind it. The name actually comes from the French word “crapaud” which means “Toad”. This was a reference to the original style of playing craps which was by basically crouching over a floor or sidewalk. Some believe craps was invented by Roman soldiers who played this game with knucklebones of a pig as dice and their armour shields as a table. Others believe that this game has an Arabic upbringing from a dice game called Al Dar and it was brought to Europe in the 12th century. Playing this game is quite simple and fun.
