“Standard Operating Procedures for Sanitisation have to Change”

Rochelle Chhabra, Head Professional Division, Streax Professional, shares her views on the paradigm shift in the salon business before the spread of Coronavirus and after the lockdown

The pandemic has completely changed the definition of cleanliness for everyone around the globe. Even though hygiene has always remained an integral part of beauty clinic, salon, or spa business, there are going to be significant changes in the SOPs for sanitisation and alertness from salon to customer and vice versa.

Hygiene and safety measures

Post the lockdown, our life will for sure get back to normal, but it will be the new normal that we will need to accept and live with it. There will be a demand to open salons, and I think, the salon industry will be one of the most prepared industries to deal with infection control and the safety of clients and service providers; starting with wearing PPEs and following WHO guidelines. Salons must also try to work on a minimum touch model and keep the clients’ medical conditions to ensure everyone’s safety.
