Ramesh Lohar and Raghav Patel of r+r architects create a contemporary- chic outhouse to meet the entertainment needs of an ahmedabad family

The catalyst for this project was that innate human urge — socialising. The Ahmedabad-based family with a thriving social life due to its diverse business interests in the hospitality and real estate sectors, needed a space in their villa which could accommodate at least 20 couples at one time.

“No amount of alteration to the existing structure could fulfil this need,” disclose interior designer Ramesh Lohar and architect Raghav Patel from R+R Architects. “The only choice then, was to create something outside, in the garden.” This option was also the better alternative, say the duo, because the modern language the design team was keen on following, would be at loggerheads with the existing structure.
