This fabulously quirky home comes to life with wallpapers expressing romance and adventure, as befits the owners of Danish design company Tapet-Cafe

Jannik Martensen-Larsen and Helene Blanche have chosen to live in a beautiful 200-square-metre house that was an old dairy built in 1923. Of course, the couple and owners of fashionable interiors outfit Tapet-Cafe, which specialises in the design and production of hand-printed textiles, wallpapers, curtains and fine upholstery, have created a world where a day spent in their home is an elevating experience, and each square metre is enriching.

Their inspiration comes from their work with textiles and wallpapers, being retailers of collections from Paris, London and Milan, but also through their own designs, which are sketched and designed by Helene.

‘I like my designs to be simple but with poetry. I always express my current moment in life, and therefore my collections are very personal,’ explains Helene, who graduated as a textile designer from Central Saint Martins College in London. ‘I had a very free hand to create new design possibilities there. Although I had a very Nordic approach when I initially began, I soon came to realise that it was possible to combine everything – materials, colours and patterns. However, you need to be daring to do it. But I also enjoy simple designs such as my collections on display at Tapet-Cafe, where I have gathered my inspiration from Danish nature, architecture and art.’
