Four years ago, my husband, Bill, and I bought 20 acres of land in Connecticut where we built a home and farm. A month after we moved into our farmhouse, a tricolor Australian shepherd came into our lives. Her name, Finula—Finn for short—came from a suggestion by my mother, Mary. And because Mom grew up in Ireland on Finnegan’s Farm in Liskea, County Galway, we’ve named our homestead Finnegan’s Farm, West.
