Doubling up as an art gallery for the owner’s collections, K Cottage in South Africa by architects Lesley Carstens and Silvio Rech is a throwback to the 1960s.

A remarkable sight greets you on the fynbos covered sand dunes of Keurboomstrand, north of Plettenberg Bay in South Africa. Some compare the pristine white building to a space station, others to a ship. Architect Lesley Carstens with her husband Silvio Rech designed the extraordinary K Cottage holiday home for South African born, UK based activist and investor/fund manager Julian Treger. Commenting on its unique form, Lesley says, “It looks as if it has been eroded like a piece of whalebone on the beach.”
