Take a Spin

Scandinavian-inspired designs that marry wood and metal with a joyful demeanour and a technologically superior form is what defines Spin — a furniture and accessories brand launched by entrepreneurs Avenish Jain, Manish Jain, Ashish Jain and Neeraj Ajwani.

Launched earlier this year by Avenish Jain, Ashish Jain, Manish Jain and Neeraj Ajwani, furniture brand Spin has an interesting if slightly roundabout origin story. Avenish, Manish and Ashish have known each other since 1999, when they worked for an advertising firm in New Delhi. The three of them worked on many projects together and it was their easy camaraderie, shared work ethics, and an understanding of each other’s strengths that led them to start Shark Shopfits in 2003, a premiere retail solution company. After running a successful business in retail fittings (shop shelving, display equipment, furniture, etc) with a global clientele such as Armani, DKNY, Diesel, Nike and Superdry, one wonders how the trio ventured into furniture and accessory design. “A few years ago when we couldn’t find any furniture in the Indian market that matched our sensibilities — simple, original, and minimal — for our personal spaces as well as to meet the needs of some international brands here, we started exploring possibilities of designing our own,” answers Avenish.
