Our country’s rich jewellery making tradition is world renowned and wonderfully represented by many boutique and luxury jewellery houses across the country. We’ve seen how jewellery designers take inspiration from around the world, yet constantly pay tribute to, and revive the country’s rich heritage and craftsmanship, thereby offering a consumer the best of both worlds. Similarly, the spaces which display these gems have also metamorphosed over the years and evolved to exquisite spaces of beauty, offering experiences that are notches above mere shopping.

A rare experience, that’s exactly what Naveen Sanghi and Shilpa Sanghi of the 96-year-old Hyderabad-based L Bajrang Pershad Jewellers — who have been dealing in antique gold jewellery, high-end diamonds and exquisite kundan jewellery since 1920 — wanted to offer their high-profile clientele when they decided to open a second outlet for their jewellery brand. The owners didn’t have to scour the market for a design professional as interior designers Aamir Sharma and Hameeda Sharma of the famous Hyderabad-based Aamir & Hameeda happen to be their good friends. “The clients came to us because of our out-of-the box design process. They wanted a store that is atypical — a contemporary boutique with an Indian heart and a larger-than-life look and feel,” informs Aamir. “They also wanted the space to be 100 per cent Vastu compliant — which is a regular norm in south India.”
