After knocking two houses into one, Alison Pike filled her new home with creative colour and gathered treasures.

For Alison Pike, the location of her potential new home on the South Downs Way was enough to persuade her to migrate from Suffolk. The fact that it was on a farm owned by her parents, and her nearest neighbour was her sister, made it a dream come true. ‘The property was two Fifties semi-detached farmworkers’ houses, which had been rented out. The building was sound, but we had lots of structural and decorative work ahead of us, as both houses were totally featureless,’ Alison says.
