Blueberries may be the ultimate super fruit, especially for women over 40, who want to protect their bone density.

The presence of polyphenols and anthocyanins in blueberries can help to promote bone strength and even offer some protection again the onset of osteoporosis. The Journal of Bone and Mineral Research, published a research postulating that the polyphenol content in blueberries is most likely responsible for the increased bone strength shown in laboratory study rats. Evidence is accumulating that blueberries can activate cells that actually help build and regenerate bones.
