Nestled in the Adelaide Foothills, The Home of Afl Star Turned Artist Gavin Wanganeen and His Family Is a Stylish Delight
ART HOUSE Gavin Wanganeen’s home could easily have been a sports museum displaying the accolades of the former professional AFL player’s 16-year career. Instead, the walls are adorned with colour and art and tell another story; one of his new calling as an artist. While his finished works, including ‘Wildflowers On Wardang’ (opposite), are on show, it’s on the dining room floor that they begin to come to life – and with three small children around, that’s no easy feat. “I think Lulu’s first words were, ‘Daddy’s, don’t touch’,” quips Gavin (pictured) about his inquisitive three-year-old.
the lowdown GAVIN WANGANEEN
Who lives here?
Former AFL star Gavin Wanganeen; his wife, Pippa, a model/presenter; their daughters, Kitty, four, Lulu, three, and Posey, one; Gavin’s children Mia, 17, and Tex, 14; plus Louis the dog and Hissy the cat.
In such a busy household, where do you go for downtime?
Gavin: “For me, it’s sitting on the couch binge-watching our favourite American TV series.”
Describe your home’s style?
Pippa: “It’s a bit like a doll’s house! Definitely a mix of contemporary Scandi and beautiful antiques.”
Typical summer Sunday?
Pippa: “Barbecues with children everywhere, dogs, cats and Gavin’s latest rescue animal.”

What’s the next project?
Gavin: “A man cave.” Pippa: “But a beautiful man cave!”

Deck the DOORS
The front door is our favourite place to make a festive first impression, and it doesn't have to involve a traditional wreath. From fragrant foliage and whimsical florals to ribbons, bells and pine cones, there are countless ways to deck your doorway in seasonal style. It might even be the perfect time to adorn your door with a fresh coat of paint. Here, we've matched Wattyl's most beautiful hues with decorative touches to ring in the holidays in style – and keep the cheer shining long after the season ends.
