The Tsonga rapper is famous for more than just her upbeat music. At the Design Indaba in Cape Town earlier this year, she debuted her work around Tsonga fashion and culture. We caught up with her to talk about traditional food, culture and that meeting with wrestler John Cena on The Kelly Clarkson Show
You started out as a poet, how did you get into music?
I started making music at 24. I was broke, but knew I could write and I figured I could start taking my raps seriously. I think my natural understanding of rhythm in language is what made me do well as a poet and now as a rapper.
You’ve worn traditional Tsonga clothing around the world to perform. What has the response been?
