Tell us about Avon's journey in India. Why the focus on Direct Selling?
As the company for women, Avon is committed to empowering women. It’s one of the few brands that actively support spreading awareness about causes related to women like breast cancer and the crusade to end domestic violence against women and girls. Having spent most of my career in direct selling industry, I believe strongly in the value proposition of the Avon model and its relevance in empowering and creating women entrepreneurs. I look forward to working with this global iconic brand and to work towards fulfilling its potential in India. Direct selling offers important benefits to people who want an opportunity to earn income and build a business of their own, to consumers as an alternative to retail stores, and a cost-effective way for business to bring products to market. Today, consumers want to interact with the brand and the product directly. In direct selling, you have the same strategy that e-commerce is doing, you are making your own choice based on your own visuals but at the same time, there’s a human touch.
