When she’s not walking the ramp, DJ-ing at the hottest parties or experimenting with hair colour, British model Amber Le Bon is usually doing something reliably geeky
There is a wholesome, Heidi-Girl-Of-The-Alps quality to Amber Le Bon that makes her seem totally un-model-like. But this statuesque Brit has serious fashion cred. She’s been the face of Diesel as well as Moschino, and is a regular at London Fashion Week—in the front-row, on the ramp and at the after-parties accompanied by an assortment of Jenners and Hadids. As a top model, DJ and daughter of an ’80s supermodel and the lead singer of Duran Duran, Le Bon is nicely at home in most hectic scenes. But she’s just as happy surrounded by vintage cars and car-nuts in the courtyard of a palace in Hyderabad.
This is Le Bon’s fourth time at the Cartier Travel With Style Concours d’Elegance, a genteel but keenly fought contest to identify the best restored Indian classic cars and bikes in various categories. Her parents, Yasmin and Simon Le Bon, are both judges at the biennial show, but she comes just for the love of these beautiful old automobiles. Held this year at the Taj Falaknuma Palace, the Concours looked like the parking lot of a motorhead’s dream with gleaming Bentleys, Cadillacs, Royal Enfields and Lambrettas all lined up to be admired. Le Bon is as smitten as the rest of us plebs.
