Global DJ Obi.
Hello DJ Obi, how are you doing today?
Hey, what’s up? How are you doing? I’m good. I’m alright, chilling.
Could you introduce, and tell us a little bit about yourself (Full name, age, educational background, family)?
I am Obinna Ajuonuma, dark skinned, [jokingly] like the ladies. DJ out here in Lagos, Nigeria. Been doing this for ten years... actually, eleven in December... I did go to school for Broadcasting and Media. It’s kind of still in my field even as a DJ, which is very interesting. It’s like a blessing from God because I’m still technically doing what I went to school for. I came from a family of media experts; be it advertising or on-screen personalities, behind-the-scenes people, everyone in my family is kind of media driven. So, it was a no-brainer when I decided to become a DJ. It wasn’t a surprise. Other than that, I’m a pretty chill person, very easy going, very spontaneous, God-fearing as well.
What was it like growing up? Tell us a bit about your childhood
My childhood was very fun. My dad worked in media – radio, TV, so my childhood was very exciting ‘cause I got to go to the studio – TV studio, radio station to hang out, meet people. A lot of the celebs you see today, I’ve known them since I was a child. They’ve known me, I’ve known them. Grew up seeing them work, so it was very interesting to be... for me as a child, you know, watching your dad work. He allowed us [to] be very involved in his day-to-day dealings.
Growing up as a child was also interesting on a spiritual aspect [sic] because my family is very God-fearing. Growing up praying, and putting God first is a good lesson you want anybody to give their children.
