Before she becomes the new Time lord, Jodie Whittaker plays another doctor – a fake one – in a gripping BBC1 thriller

Meet The Doctor

Jodie Whittaker has become one of the hottest properties on TV. Last month, after much speculation, the BBC revealed that the Broadchurch star is to make history as the first female Doctor and 13th Time Lord when she steps into the Tardis in the Doctor Who Christmas special.

But before she takes on the iconic role, this week sees Whittaker playing a very different sort of doctor in BBC1’s identity-theft thriller Trust Me.

In the four-part series, written by practising A&E medic Dan Sefton, Whittaker plays nurse Cath Hardacre. After being pushed out of her job for whistle blowing, Cath steals the identity of her best friend, Dr Allison Sutton, and begins a new life in Edinburgh with her daughter, Molly (Summer Mason). But how long before she’s found out?

Before the big Doctor Who announcement was made, TV&Satellite Week caught up with the 35-year-old at an incredibly realistic Emergency Department re-created inside a disused building in Glasgow, to find out more…
