When Doctor Who star Jodie Whittaker stepped back in time for a trip into her family history for BBC1 genealogy show Who Do You Think You Are?, she had one hope – that her family wouldn’t turn out to be ‘boring’.
She certainly got her wish – she learnt how her ancestors caused controversy when they kept their coal mines open during the industrial strikes of the 1920s, and how one of her great-uncles made a brave sacrifice in World War One.
We caught up with Whittaker, 38, via video chat to learn more…
